ANS signed “H. Clay, S. Chamber,” one page, 5.5 x 3.5, June 7, 1836. Clay inscribes the autograph book of Miss Josephine Mitchell. In full: “I comply with great pleasure with your request in subscribing my name to your album, regretting only that I have not something else to offer more worthy of your acceptance.” Double suede matted and framed with a small portrait of Clay to an overall size of 9 x 11. In fine condition, with some mild toning along right side.
